Roasted barley - application
Roasted barley is an unmalted material - these are roasted barley grains that bring a burnt flavor with coffee notes to the beer. It is similar to Black malt, but the aroma and flavor it brings to beer is more complex. Roasted barley grains contain starch, so its addition increases the extract of the mashed wort. It brings a very strong roasted flavor and a deep, red-mahogany color to the beer. In stouts and porters, it gives dryness.
Gives beer roasted, grainy coffee flavor.
Ideal for brewing beers such as stouts, porters, brown ales and other dark beers.
Roasted barley can be used for up to 2 - 4% in brown ales or 3 - 10% in porters and stouts.
