Abbey malt is a malt dried at a higher temperature than pale ale malt, thanks to which, it brings strong aromas of baked bread, nuts and fruit to the beer. This malt has a bitter taste, which softens as the beer matures and gives it a rich aroma. It is used in small amounts in the grist to deepen the color of the beer.
Gives beer a strong taste of cooked bread, nuts and fruit. It has a bitter taste that mellows with aging and can be quite intense in flavor.
It is ideal for brewing pale ales, abbey beer, brown porters and specialty beers.
Abbey malt can be used for up to 25% of the grain bill.
